Nurse of the Year

Criteria:

  • Member of the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society for a minimum of 5 years
  • Engaged in clinical practice of wound, ostomy and continence nursing for a minimum of 5 years
  • Certified by the WOCNCB® in one or more of the following: wound, ostomy and/or continence
  • Endorsed by one or more peers for recognition status

Rookie of the Year

Criteria:

  • Member of Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society for less than 2 years
  • Engaged in clinical practice of wound, ostomy and continence nursing for less than 2 years
  • Certified by the WOCNCB® in one or more of the following: wound, ostomy and/or continence
  • Endorsed by one or more peers for recognition status

State Recognition Award

A recognition award is given to an individual from the State hosting the Annual Conference having made contributions to the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society in any of the following areas:

  • Education
  • Financial Support
  • Service on Committees
  • Clinical Expertise

Dorothy Doughty Research Grant

This grant was established in 2005 by the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society in honor of Dorothy Doughty, Director of the Emory University WOCNEP and a past President of the WOCN® Society.  The amount of the grant is dependent upon the resources of the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society and will be awarded annually. 

The selection process will include review of the research proposals by volunteer reviewers with expertise in the nursing research process. Preference will be given to researchers with limited research experience and to those WOC nurses conducting research as part of a program of study for an advanced nursing degree.  The intent of the award is to foster research among members of the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society.

Annual SER of the WOCN Society Conference Scholarship

Five $1200 conference scholarships will be awarded

Criteria:

  • Member of the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society
  • Engaged in clinical practice of wound, ostomy and continence nursing
  • Certified by the WOCNCB® in one of the following: wound, ostomy and/or continence
  • Agree to submit a summation of the experience to the Director of Awards for publication in
    the SER News and/or Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society website
  • Self applications only
  • Recipients will be notified by August 1, 2017.

A recipient cannot receive the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society Annual Conference Scholarship in two consecutive years..

**All expenses including conference registration, hotel, meals and travel are the responsibility of the recipient. A $1200 scholarship will be awarded at Annual Conference to each recipient to help offset conference expenses. Winners must attend conference and complete IRS form W-9 before receiving the award payment.

WOC Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP) Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Member of the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society
  • Employed within Southeast Region
  • Seeking education in wound, ostomy and continence nursing care
  • Proof of one of the following:
    • Acceptance to a WOCN®-accredited Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP) or Specialty Course.
    • Current enrollment in a WOCN®-accredited WOCNEP or Specialty Course. 
    • Certificate of completion from a WOCN®-accredited WOCNEP or Specialty Course, within three months of graduation
  • Three satisfactory letters of recommendation from professional associates who have known the applicant for at least one year (one from current employer is preferred).
  • Has not been awarded an educational scholarship from the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society in the past three years.
  • Recipient will receive scholarship upon receipt of certificate of completion from a WOCN-accredited WOCNEP or Specialty Course.
  • Recipient will be notified by August 1, 2017.

The SER does not share/exchange application information with the WOCN ® Society.

Advanced Nursing Education Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Member of the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society>
  • Engaged in clinical practice of wound, ostomy and continence nursing within the Southeast Region
  • Seeking a Master’s or Doctoral Degree or NP/CNS Certificate
  • Proof of current enrollment or acceptance into an NLN accredited nursing program or other accredited college/university.
  • Certified by the WOCNCB® in one of the following: wound, ostomy and/or continence
  • Three satisfactory letters of recommendation from professional associates who have known the applicant for at least one year (one from current employer is preferred).
  • Has not been awarded an educational scholarship from the Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society in the past three years.
  • Recipient will receive scholarship upon receipt of transcript for semester/quarter credit.
  • Recipient will be notified by August 1, 2017.

The SER does not share/exchange application information with the WOCN ® Society.

Youth Rally Scholarship for Camp Assistance:

The Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society donates $2000 to the Youth Rally for the purpose of providing children and/or camp counselors financial assistance to attend the Youth Rally. Click here to read the 2016 Thank You letter. 


Friends of Ostomates Worldwide:

The Southeast Region of the WOCN® Society donates to the Friends of Ostomates Worldwide (FOW-USA), a volunteer-run, non-profit organization providing ostomy supplies and educational materials to people in need around the world.  We encourage our members to donate as well.
