Thanks to Barbara Dale RN CWOCN, from Quality Home Health in Livingston TN for serving as the Tennessee Reporter for the past several years. She has graciously spread the Tennessee News, but is happy to turn over the Reporter position to me, Martha Davidson CWOCN from Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Please forward me all Tennessee Wound, Ostomy or Continence related news to reporter.tn@serwocn.org, so that we can share.

Tennessee is a large state which spans 43,022 square miles. The greatest length from east to west is 432 miles. Within our state there are many Wound, Ostomy, and/or Continence Nurses, that are members of the WOC nurse Society, along with numerous other clinicians in our great state who take care of our wound or ostomy patients.

News from Nashville TN:

Exciting news, wedding bells will be ring next fall! Congratulations to Maggie McVaugh CWOCN, with 3M, who got engaged November 19th and getting married September 16, 2022.

Ascensions Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville TN has a Full time WOC nurse position open. If interested in learning more about the position, contact Shirley Breece, CWCA (shirley.breece@ascension.org)

Hannah Hogan CWOCN, presented a poster at The Magnet Pathway Conference in Atlanta in 2021. The concept of the poster was just about how the pressure injury prevention strategy evolved at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN, and their improved outcomes.

Also, Hannah is leading our Middle TN WOC Networking group 2022-2023. The Middle TN WOC Network group extends an invitation to anyone in the area that would like to participate with our monthly meetings. The next meeting is Thursday January 20, 2022 at 3160 West End Ave, Nashville. The meeting is hosted by Consure Medical and will be focused on continence products. Amaka Otiono is excited that Lisa Mulaley is joining Tristar Centennial Hospital Wound Ostomy team, in Nashville TN. Lisa is enrolled in Emory University WOCEP.

Michelle Suttle CWOCN is leaving Tristar Skyline Health Center and has taken a new position in Springfield at NorthCrest Wound Care as Manager for department. Michelle will be working with Jenny Evangelist. Michell is hopeful to have a replacement for WOC Nurse position at Skyline soon.

We have 2 newly trained WOC nurses @Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville TN; Carter Wamp CWOCN, and Carli Kettenhofen WOC nurse (who is planning to take Certification for the tri-specialty in January 2022). And we have hired Amy Beatty, CWON in a prn WOC nurse position. She has recently moved to the Nashville area from Cincinnati Ohio. Welcome to Tennessee Amy!

News from Jackson TN:

Jennifer Vandiver, CWON @ Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, in Jackson TN, joyfully reports they have 2 newly trained WOC nurses, Erin Dournaux, WOC nurse and Melissa Tubbs, WOC nurse. Erin has completed her clinicals and is waiting to take the certification test. Melissa will soon complete her clinicals and will test soon also. They are doing a great job though and we are extremely happy to have them. We are looking for one more person to work in our dept at our main facility in Jackson. Other news from Jackson-Madison Hospital, Dena Clanin CWON is elated her son just graduated from Tennessee Tech with a BBA in Marketing and is planning a wedding for the spring 2022. And, Patricia Moore, CWCN, will be going on an exciting trip to Disney in February with her children and grandchildren. Jennifer Vandiver is celebrating her 30-year wedding anniversary in January and is expecting grandchild #4 in February!

News from Knoxville and Chattanooga TN:

On the eastern side of Tennessee, there is a wonderful ostomy Nurse driven DME called The Pouch Place (in Knoxville and Chattanooga). The Pouch Place has ostomy nurses on staff, and they have a private clinic to see ostomy patients and help with ostomy pouching issues. They do not require a physician referral, and they charge a minimal fee for the office visit.

posted 04/05/2021 West Tennesee Healthcare / Jackson: Casey Davis, is heading backhome to work as a WOC nurse in Gallatin, TN. We are very sad to see her go, but I have loved watching her grow into an amazing WOC nurse and we wish her the best in this next chapter. Therefore, West Tennesee Healthcare / Jackson is looking for a WOC nurse (certified would be a huge plus!). If anyone is interested in making a move or know someone looking in our area, please let me know!!
